Automattic, die Firma hinter WordPress und bbPress, übernimmt den Avatar-Dienst Gravatar (globally recognized avatar). Der Dienst wurde wieder zunehmend langsamer und hatte Probleme mit seiner Erreichbarkeit, was sich durch den Umzug auf die WordPress.com Server hoffentlich bald ändern wird. Außerdem sollen, laut Weblog, auch die Premium-Features für alle kostenlos bereit gestellt werden.

Jeremy beschreibt in seinem Weblog wie man mit Hilfe des abbr Tags eine vollständige hCard für Links erstellen kann.
Sein Problem:
I would still make his name a hyperlink but what can I do about making this text into an hCard? Should I change my writing style and refer to everyone by their full formated name even if the context and writing style would favour just using their first name?
Will man eine hCard erstellen bei der nur der Vorname angezeigt wird, wird natürlich auch nur der Vorname ins Adressbuch übernommen:

Die Lösung des Problems ist die Nutzung des abbr Tags:

Schicke Idee, fragt sich nur ob der Vorname als Abbreviate (Abkürzung) durch geht und die Nutzung von <abbr> gerechtfertigt ist.
Auf der Web 2.0 Expo in Berlin (vom 5. bis zum 8. November) werden zwei sehr interessante Vorträge über Microformats gehalten. Der erste Vortrag ist von Brian Suda, der eines der ersten Bücher (E-Book bei O’Reilly) zum Thema Microformats veröffentlicht hat und der zweite Vortrag ist von Jeremy Keith, der in “Microformats-Kreisen” auch kein Unbekannter sein dürfte.

Microformats allow you to extend the limited semantics of HTML, thus allowing for a richer web of data. By embedding microformats into HTML it is possible to use the semantic meaning to extract unambiguous data from the web that can then be used in other applications. Microformats focus on how people are already publishing their data online. This session focuses on the more technical aspects of microformats, how they interact with other Semantic Web technologies such as GRDDL and SPARQL, along with a look at browser plugins to detect microformats and browser integration.

Würde mir die Vorträge sehr gerne anhören, aber leider ist das ganze unter der Woche (wo normale Menschen arbeiten müssen) und kostet etwas zu viel.
Spreadshirt hat es geschafft das Weblogsystem auf WordPress umzustellen und startet zur feier des Tages eine Spreadshirt Safari.
Das Prinzip ist einfach:
1. T-Shirt aussuchen und Posten.
2. Trackback setzen.
3. Eventuell das T-Shirt gewinnen.
Dann hoffe ich mal dass ich bald der besitzer eines weiteren T-Shirts bin

I wrote a small User Script for the Operator Toolbar (Firefox Plugin to handle Microformats), so you can transform the detected microformats using the Optimus transformer. Optimus supports two kinds of transformations (microformats to jSON or to XML) and a basic microformats validation.
The User Script supports the transformations and the validation for the following Microformats: hCard, hCalendar, adr, hReview, hResume, tag, geo, XFN, xFolk, license and hAtom-hFeed.

OAuth ist ein offenes Protokoll um eine sichere Authentifizierung über APIs zu gewährleisten.
An open protocol to allow secure API authentication in a simple and standard method from desktop and web applications.
Mit Spezifikationen wie OAuth und Diensten wie OpenID kommen wir den dezentralen und portablen Netzwerken wieder einen Schritt näher (und mal schaun was aus NoseRub wird).
Ich werde mir das ganze nochmal in Ruhe anschauen und eventuell nochmal etwas ausführlicher darüber schreiben. Macht aber auf den ertsen Blick schonmal nen guten Eindruck.
